What Can I Donate?

Risen Thrift is a nonprofit thrift store that is dependent upon the generous donations of others. While we take pretty much anything in good, usable condition, here is a short list of things we don’t take:

-Expired baby items (car seats, toys, walkers etc. that have exceeded their expiration date)

-Used mattresses and box springs

-Old TVs (you know, the ones like grandma had back in the 80s)

Where Can I Donate?

We would gladly receive your donation at our store, 102 E. Main St. in Danville during our regular business hours. We are open Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 and Saturday from 9-3.

We also have a 24 hour drop box for clothes and shoes only, located behind our store.

Other FAQs About Donations

What can I donate that will make an immediate impact?

People often ask us what sells the best. We sell such a variety of things but there is always items that move faster than others. The following are things that sell quickly.

Women’s and youth clothing that is current and in season sells very fast. Furniture that is in good condition especially dressers and wooden tables and chairs. Home decor of all sorts. Unique items. The weirder, the better.

What do you do with the money that the store makes?

After we pay the expenses that it takes to run the store we give our profits to Lazarus Life Ministries to help fund their mission of offering residential housing to those struggling with addiction. For more information on what Lazarus is doing feel free to visit their website at Lazaruslife.org.

How can I help?

There are 4 key ways that you can help us make this whole thing work.

  1. Donate - When you donate your items here we are able to do what we do and sell those items so that we can, in turn, donate that money to help those in addiction.

  2. Shop - When you are thinking about a new pair of jeans, some work shoes, getting a new piece for the living room or whatever it is, think about stopping here first. Your purchases help fund the mission.

  3. Volunteer - With volunteers we are able to keep expenses low and pass more money along to help those in need. You can stop at the store or message us on FaceBook or Instagram to set up a time to volunteer with us.

  4. Tell ‘em where ya got it - Tell people to come check us out. So many people come in the doors because someone told them that they should stop in.
